Monday with…Andy Hawthorne

Posted on Monday, December 21st, 2009 by Ali Johnson

Andy HawthorneAndy Hawthorne is a British evangelist, author and founder of The Message Trust, a Christian mission organization based in Manchester, England. I love this quote and its great to consider at Christmas time.

“There has been a great attack on the Eastern Church in the twentieth century. That attack is persecution, and it has failed miserably. You can’t persecute the church out of existence. You just crush it and it becomes stronger than ever before. And yet the great attack of the Western Church in the twentieth century has been materialism. Materialism has been successful ”.

Let me know what you think?

He points out a good point…… so do we all move east side then? What’s the answer?

I am unsure of the answer. I think the first thing is to recongise the fate of the world we live. We are bound by money. The recession has shown this. The world basically stops because of this recession but we believe there is something worth more than this. I guess this answer comes in the form of the rich young ruler who wasn’t willing to give up all he had for Jesus. Materialism is the other God we face. What do you think mark?
