Fakebook: How Many Friends Have You Really Got?

Posted on Tuesday, January 19th, 2010 by Ali Johnson

Five minutes goes by and I get out my Iphone, open up my Facebook app and check if I have any new wall posts, hoping that someone has sent me a message or ‘liked’ my status. What did I do before Facebook? How did I stay in contact with my friends before I had them all at the click of a mouse or the tap of the keyboard? Have you ever missed an event or not turned up to something because it wasn’t on Facebook. I even rely on Facebook to tell me when my families’ birthdays are. Social networking sites like Facebook have changed the way we live our lives. ...

Friday Friend…A New Creation or A Rather Nice Person

Posted on Friday, January 8th, 2010 by ian3008

One of the most remarkable features of the Christian story, in which I participate, is the inner renewal it brings. This is witnessed in scripture - ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.’ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and experienced by many believers over the centuries. The Apostle Paul knew first hand the transforming power of Jesus Christ, but there are others too: Nicky Cruz, William Wilberforce, John Wesley are the ones which spring quickly to mind. But God doesn’t do that, anymore, does he? God doesn’t take ordinary, broken and confused men and women and create in them wonderful ...

Monday with…Rob Bell

Posted on Monday, January 4th, 2010 by Ali Johnson

Rob Bell (born August 23, 1970) is a best-selling author, Christian speaker, and the founding pastor of Mars Hill Bible Church located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Andy HawthorneAndy Hawthorne is a British evangelist, author and founder of The Message Trust, a Christian mission organization based in Manchester, England. I love this quote and its great to consider at Christmas time. “There has been a great attack on the Eastern Church in the twentieth century. That attack is persecution, and it has failed miserably. You can’t persecute the church out of existence. You just crush it and it becomes stronger than ever before. And yet the great attack of the Western Church in the twentieth century has been materialism. Materialism has been successful ”. Let me know what you think?

Monday with…Mike Yaconelli

Posted on Monday, December 14th, 2009 by Ali Johnson

Mike Yaconelli (July 24, 1942 — October 30, 2003) was a writer, theologian, church leader and satirist. I love this quote has to be one of favourites "We have lost our astonishment. The Good News is no longer good news, it is okay news. Christianity is no longer life changing, it is life enhancing. Jesus doesn’t change people into wild-eyed radicals anymore, He changes them into ‘nice people’. But radical Christianity wasn’t nice; it was category-smashing, life-threatening, anti-institutional; it spread like wildfire throughout the 1st century and was considered by those in power to be dangerous. ‘I want to be filled with an astonishment which is so captivating that I am considered wild and unpredictable and … well … dangerous’. I want to ...
